Poisoned Roses

Warning: This poem may not be suitable for younger audiences.

Samuel Knight

A world of flowers.
A garden of women.
Each flower has a personality,
Each woman has a sweet scent.
Harmonious world,
Harmonious garden.
Thriving together,
Pretty forever.

Gift me a rose,
I’ll treat her with care.
Love her unconditionally,
She’s mine to keep.
Hand me a woman,
I can bear the thorns.
Sure I bleed a bit but,
Sacrifice is worth the happiness.

What’s this I hear them speak?
A bridge between them.
Flowers mingle,
Women welt.
The fatality of man,
The invasiveness of weeds,
The chemicals kill,
The lust overpowering.

A day they live no longer will bring peace to all,
Neither side can face the daggers of their environment.
One weed?
Kill the garden.
One slut?
Banish the women.
What’s left?
The mess,
Me.
