My Story

Gemma Powers

The day goes by plain and bland
I wait until I can rest my hands
From waiting for an antidote
Kicking hard to stay afloat

All you see is the thin crisp smile
But I’m begging myself, don’t put that in the pile
There’s far too much—I can’t focus
Oh look, a chore? That’s a bonus!

The pile grows and hums a soft note
As I wait for what this day demotes
I wake up cold, go to bed with tears
Hoping tomorrow won’t be full of fears

Yesterday went, and so will tomorrow
But fewer days are filled with sorrow
I’ve found my peace, my joy and fun
If love is a lottery, I may have won

He’s so sweet and filled with serenity
And doesn’t treat me like a charity
So today I will close my case
This story will continue its chase
